For internationally trained lawyers

Once the National Committee on Accreditation has issued your Certificate of Qualification, you join the Law Society of Ontario's licensing process and write the same Barrister and Solicitor exams as Canadian graduates.

What's different for NCA candidates

Many NCA candidates know the substantive law well from their NCA exams but have less experience with Ontario procedure, practice management and the Rules of Professional Conduct, which run through both licensing exams. Format matters too: 160 questions, open book, with little time per question. Full practice exams show you where the gaps are before exam day.

Where to start

  1. 1Take a free diagnostic for each exam to see your starting point.
  2. 2Write one full exam untimed and build your index as you go.
  3. 3Use practice sets on your weakest areas.
  4. 4Finish with a timed full exam about a week before the sitting.
